How to Get Here


Coober Pedy is situated in the Outback of South Australia, 846km north of Adelaide and 685km south of Alice Springs.

Drive
Most people self-drive to and around the region. Many of the roads are sealed so you don’t need a 4WD to see the key attractions. ALWAYS CHECK ROAD CONDITIONS before travel.

Car hire
Hire car companies are available in Coober Pedy, Port Augusta, Port Pirie and Roxby Downs ex Adelaide.

Fly
Rex Airlines fly ex Adelaide to Coober Pedy, Sunday to Friday, Private charters are also available.

Rail
The Ghan departs Adelaide twice a week and stops in Port Augusta and Manguri (37kms outside Coober Pedy on a south-north and return north - south transcontinental journey. Take your car and break up your journey at Alice by driving through spectacular outback SA.

Coach
Greyhound Coaches service the region and is a national provider.

Caravans
Please be aware that the road from Pt Augusta to Coober Pedy and Alice Springs is a sealed road. Also note rest stops on the Stuart Highway are for temporary stops only, no overnight stays are permitted. For further information call Wadlata Outback Centre on 1800 633 060.
